| The
2005 Speedweek was not without its problems for the Linsmeyer team.
The salt was rougher than in the recent past and that brought out a problem with the steering. While towing to the line on Sunday the front end went into a shake that felt like front ball joints, steering arms and wheel bearings had failed at the same time( which they didn't).After getting back to the pit area to look for the problem Lee, Lance and Scott started inspecting and double checking every component in the steering. The steering box was rebuilt and tightened up, the drag link was modified with welded gussets, the wheel bearings were inspected and the bearing to spindle fit was tightened. Monday: After engine warm-up headed to the line again and after hitting a rough spot the car did the same thing but not nearly as violent. The decision was made to add a steering dampner to the front axle which was ordered from the auto parts store in Wendover. |

| Tuesday: During engine warm- up the turbocharger seal appeared to fail allowing oil to blow out of the exhaust pipe. The spare turbo was installed after it cooled down enough to work on it. | ||||||
| Wednesday: Steering dampner installed, engine warm , headed to the line. Road still rough but no shake, felt really solid. We got in line for the long course and the wait began. The weather looked threatening all day . Lance was in the car warming the engine for the run when the wind and rain came blasting across the flats. Everyone headed for cover and to get to the trailers to see what hadn't blown away. We were 3rd in line to make a run at this time which was a close as we got. | ||||||
