HOWMET TX TURBINE CAR

Purchased  May 13th 2006, from the Brucker Collection held at the Peterson Museum in  Los Angeles This is #1 coupe powered by a Continental TS325-1 turboshaft engine. The engine is not complete so the search is on for info and  parts.

More of the history of the Howmet cars can be viewed at  Howmet TX turbine Ray Heppenstall Pete Stowe

Bruce's search for engines has yielded one complete engine and one parts engine this is in addition to the incomplete one that was in the car when purchased.

He has tested fuel controls and fuel pumps on our fuel control bench.
The testing of the pumps and control was not as simple as it would seem. The fuel control runs at 4200 rpm and the fuel pump runs at 12,000 rpm in the opposite rotational direction. This required Bruce to design and build a gear box which mounts to our test bench
The dual drive  used on the fuel control bench in order to test the pump and the fuel control The engine mounted on the test stand ready for the first start
